Bo-tanics
A gentle guide to how flower essences work, what each layer addresses, and what you might notice as you take your remedy.
Flower essences are not herbal medicines and they are not aromatherapy. They work on the emotional and energetic body in a very precise and gentle way. Each essence carries the vibrational imprint of a flower, captured at the moment of its highest expression. When you take an essence, it acts as a kind of mirror: it does not force a change, but it creates the conditions in which your own system can find its way back to balance.
They are safe, non-toxic and compatible with all medications. There is no scent and only the faintest taste. The work happens quietly, often in the background of ordinary life, and you may only notice it when you realise that something that used to bother you simply no longer does.
Your practitioner will select a small number of essences specifically for your presenting picture. The formula changes as you change. What you receive at your first appointment may be quite different from what you need three months later. This is as it should be. Flower essences follow your healing journey, not the other way around. The seven layers below show which essences correspond to each chakra layer, so you can understand which part of your system is being addressed.
A few things that may help you understand and trust the process
4 drops under the tongue or in a small glass of water, 4 times daily: on waking, midday, late afternoon and before sleep. Hold briefly in the mouth before swallowing.
Essences work subtly. Some shifts are noticed within days; others emerge gradually over 2 to 4 weeks. The presenting layer usually shifts first, with deeper layers surfacing after.
Some essences can bring old feelings to the surface before they resolve. This is a normal and healthy part of the process. Be gentle with yourself during this time.
Flower essences are safe, non-toxic and compatible with any medication. They are gentle enough for children, pregnancy and animals. There is no dosage risk.
Most formulas are reviewed after 2 to 4 weeks. As the presenting layer shifts, a new formula may be needed for what surfaces next.
Note any dreams, emotional shifts or life changes that occur while taking your remedy. These observations are valuable information for your practitioner at your next review.
